friends in unexpected places

where I live everyone is very conservative.  There’s this old guy who comes into my work who I like, but unfairly assumed he was like everyone else.  Today, though, he started talking about how he is for same sex marriage and how he doesn’t understand what the big deal is because you can find homosexuality throughout history. 

It may sound silly, but hearing this is so unusual around here and it was a great break.
